    Description

Fantastic set of (4) VINTAGE Louis Macouillard Watercolors Menus from a 1961 Cruise Ship SS Lurline on the Matson Lines. These watercolors were commissioned by Matson Lines to adorn their menus. Scenes depict SAN FRANCISCO, Southern California, New Zealand and Fiji. Very MID CENTURY MODERN. The scenes show the iconic symbols of each location and are beautifully done. Each one contains the title and printed signature of the artist. He was a well known commercial artist who died in 1987. Condition is very good, these had been framed behind glass. There is no smell to them, nor any staining. The upper left corner of one of them shows a bit of a bend but is not creased nor dog eared. See last photo. The Fiji piece has a small surface tear on the top that almost disappears when it’s framed These were used as actual menus on the cruises 60 years ago so the Condition is amazing all things considered. There is also all kinds of great info on the cruise itself in the menus. Great history. They are dated August 23, 25 and 27, 28th of 1961. Please see all photos as they’re part of the description. Shipped USPS Priority Mail or First Class or Fed Ex whichever is cheaper. Thanks for your interest!
