Description

If you've planned to retire in Puerto Rico, or if you just want to have a vacation place here, but you've been told that crime is a problem, it's true. In our big cities, as in many other big cities around the world, and close to many beaches where the sea salt eats everything, there is a lot of crime. In addition, crowding, traffic jams, humidity, and heat make life more difficult if not impossible. For all those and other things, the cost of living is higher.
Compare that to a quiet life on a hill in the mountains of the Puerto Rico mountain range. In this neighborhood of Barranquitas crime is almost non-existing.  The temperature at night is about 65 to 68 degrees and in the day around 72 degrees. The temperature in this house is always lower than that of Barranquitas-pueblo. Only one or two weeks of summer require a fan or, in the extreme, air conditioning. There is air conditioning in the main bedroom.  Atop this hill, from a large balcony, the views are spectacular.  And if you like flowers, in this climate they grow like you can't imagine.
On the other hand, this island is small. In just over an hour, you reach San Juan. In about two hours you reach the farthest beach in the Rincon area. Others are much closer.
You may think of hurricanes. You don't know when or if they're going to happen. But this little hill is ready. The house has new stormproof windows, and is also equipped with window storm-covers called “tormenteras” here. In addition, the house has a large cistern with an electric pump that provides water in any emergency. And as you could lose the electricity, the house has a small gasoline generator.
The roof was sealed in April 2021 and all of its drains were cleaned. You have to think about this when you buy a house in Puerto Rico. It can cost more than ,000 to seal a roof.
Distant earthquakes are felt, but they don't affect the structure.
The little house is very nice, but you have to climb stairs from the first floor to the second floor. It's been a good exercise for me.
The internet is wired from the living room to the three bedrooms, and the wireless network works very well throughout most of the house. The service arrives through dedicated fiber-optic cable.  Through the same service local and national TV channels come-in in excellent quality.
The more than 1000 square feet in the upper floor has living room, kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has a large refrigerator, kitchen, microwave, storage cabinets and extended bar. Up and down all doors and windows are aluminum made.  The rooms are equipped with mahogany beds with mattresses purchased just over a year ago, and in the main bedroom there are a couple of dressers. The custom-made mahogany beds were purchased just over a year ago. Also, there is a small but chic dining set.
Because, when we close the windows when it rains, moisture accumulates, there are four large dehumidifying machines. They are portable, do not use much electricity and control moisture well.
Downstairs adds more living room space. There are the washing and drying machines, and a small bath in the separate laundry room. There, there is storage room in a closet and a ceiling-hanging shelf. Also, here we have a futon for those who want to take a nap or sleep downstairs.
Otherwise, there's plenty of space where you can store your cars or do whatever you want. Now, this space has two double metal rockers, a six-chair dining set, four large cabinets to store anything, a full toolbox, about a fifty-inch TV, two wired wall-hanging small powered speakers, a normal-sized electric fridge, a desk-table, a treadmill, a microwave, a coffee machine, and an electric grill. In addition, there are a gas two-burner stove, and a gas heater—all rustic to be used only with a lot of ventilation. Three sets of huge gates enclose the space. These can be covered with the plywood sheets that are stored below in the event of storms. My wife likes the downstairs so much that she often stays there most of the day.
If you like to do your own mechanics or projects in the house, there are enough tools for that. I don't know what you would to do because we replaced several receptacles upstairs, the kitchen sink and its faucet, and the bathroom sink faucets, as well as the washing and drying machines, and I don't list more to make this a little more limited.
There are plantain and banana trees outside. They bear fruit. We planted mango, avocado, lemon and soursop trees. They're still small. There are ornamental and flower bushes around. There are two new cement planters: one currently used for vegetables, the other used for ornament now.
There are three electrical machines mounted on poles in the yard for mosquito and other pest control. They work well. Another pole holds up a plastic box that was intended to be a bird house. The birds ignore it. For adornment also are rustic iron statues of Kokopeli and Don Quixote. Near them is the eight-foot-long wooden and iron garden bench. She also adorns, but it's functional also. There you can also sit and enjoy, as in the two chairs of the upstairs balcony but closer to the ground, the beautiful scenery.
The lot measures about a third of acre and is very steep on one side. Luckily, a friend serves as a gardener by cutting the grass and cleaning the brush for a low 0.00 per month.
But nothing is that easy. The hard part of this little house is that if you come here the only things you need to bring are your clothes and your toothbrush. Almost everything in the little house can stay. Bedding, dishes, glasses, and even the 2006 Altima and the 2003 Rav4, which are in good condition, stay. All the furniture stays. The music system below minus the subwoofer stays. Two fifty-inch TVs and three smaller ones plus two standing fans stay. Two or three small ladders remain, and in case you want to climb to the roof, there is also an aluminum ladder more than 20 feet long.
There is an emergency clinic in the center of Barranquitas—minutes away. Dentists and doctors are nearby. Drugstores and Food stores are also nearby, but if you prefer, you can drive to Sam’s Club, Walmart, Walgreen, Costco, or shopping centers in a few different directions on a drive lasting a bit more than an hour. Quaint and other popular mountain towns are nearby where, like in Barranquitas, you can enjoy their yearly traditional fiestas.
We take the clothes, our personal effects, the computers, and the sound system upstairs plus the subwoofer below. The wife hasn't finished making the list of our personal effects, but no problem. We can’t take too much flying to the mainland.
And if this is so darn good, why are we leaving? Ironies of life. Now that everything is perfect for me, my wife has to leave and she insists that I go with her.
We will consider offers over 0,000.00 for a period of three months. Because so many things remain in the house, the payment will be cash once the buyer is shown that the property title will be handed over subject to a single existing loan (payable through the amount offered), and the titles of the cars are clean and debt-free. We reserve the right to refuse any offer, or all offers. Those offers that we want to consider more seriously must be submitted with a deposit of 5% of the offer through my attorney. If a mutual interest arises, you will be informed more details.
