I marked it as "used" because I did remove it from its original packaging and did have my hands on it. However, this product was NEVER used. The application just wouldn't work for my set-up, I purchased this product by accident. It was stored amongst other pieces of aquarium equipment, it's possible some droplets of water made contact with it, so you may see a smear or two on the plastic. But I promise you that it was never actually used -- I never had it hooked up and it never entered my aquarium.
