    It is a wonderful and rare
    booklet about the great State of Colorado.
    The 78 page booklet is an  EXTREMELY RARE bit of southwestern history with over 50 sepia photographic images  ( 5 double page large panoramic views ).
    Chicago Rock Island & Pacific Railway Book issued by the passenger department in 1904 "UNDER THE TURQUOISE SKY ". It is a very early authentic vintage antique C. R. I. & P. Rwy. travel brochure book. First edition. 6" x 8" in colorful pictorial wrappers showing a panoramic view of the high plains in a what looks like a hand screened print marked The Rock Island System with a curious chop mark of the artist with what looks like a styilized goose and the numeral 88 or letters BB. Sepia photographs throughout by O. L. Foster of Lafayette, Indiana. 78 pages Overview of Colorado & it's Pleasure Resorts followed by chapters on scenery and climate, sports, women golfers on the links , trout streams, Colorado Springs, Manitou and the Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak, Glenwood Springs, Royal Gorge, Cripple Creek, Denver, Boulder, El Dorado Springs, agriculture, trains to and through Colorado, Telescoping from the summit platform at Pikes Peak  etc. Lists of elevations of peaks and passes; elevations of lakes; populations and elevations of towns; hotels along with rates and altitudes; 1900 U. S. Census information, representatives of the Rock Island Lines. Sepia duotone photographs throughout. The cover has edge wear and a split on the front edge and a drawing on the front endpaper but the nterior is in fine condition. A rare book scarcely seen. Size: 6" By 8"
